Some time ago, I came across a sentence:
“Every brand needs an enemy. Who is yours?”
It stayed with me longer than I expected. Not because it sounds aggressive, but because it forces honest reflection. What truly drives you? What are you actually fighting against? What triggers you? It’s a powerful line, one that compels you to question and clearly define your own choices and standards.
Twenty-four years of running a club teach you patience. And consistency. They teach you that popularity comes and goes, but the decisions you make remain. Especially the difficult ones.
Throughout those years, there were many moments when it would have been easier to give in. To compromise. To adapt. To accept what “sells.” There were requests to program music that was never part of our identity, simply because it would bring revenue. We never agreed. We consciously chose the harder path.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that competition itself is not the problem. On the contrary, it is often the fairest benchmark. It reminds you that the audience has a choice. That trust is not earned by booking big names, but by creating experiences and building relationships.
At BitefArtCafe, we have never thought in terms of “us versus them.” We never tried to be trendier or more fashionable. We focused on being consistent. Consistent with a sound that makes sense. With a program built on quality. With an audience that comes for the experience.
If I have to name the “enemy,” it isn’t another club.
It is MEDIOCRITY.
Mediocrity arrives disguised as compromise. As dilution. As the phrase “just this once.”
With the assumption that the audience won’t notice. We believe our audience does. In a world where everyone is trying to be everything, we choose the responsibility of making clear choices. If the fight is about refusing to fall below what you believe in, then we accept it.
Because a better Belgrade doesn’t happen by accident.
It is built through consistency.
And that is the only side we want to be on.
For 24 years.
