YELLOWJACKETS ARE COMING TO BELGRADE AND ARE BRINGING SEDUCTIVE JAZZ

Jazz fusion band Yellowjackets is coming to Musicology Sessions on May 27th at BitefArtCafe club.

The Yellowjackets gained recognition and fame by combining smooth funk and R&B grooves with rhythmic bop jazz and fusion of various genres. In a career spanning an impressive 43 years, this band has recorded 25 albums, sold out countless concerts and enjoyed worldwide recognition and commercial success. They were nominated for the Grammy Award 16 times, and were awarded 2 times, in the categories of Best Jazz Fusion Performance and Best R&B Instrumental Performance.

Yellowjackets was formed in the late 1970s, and they recorded their first album in 1980. Today’s lineup consists of: Russell Ferrante (keyboards), Bob Mintzer (wind instruments), Will Kennedy (drums) and Dane Alderson (bass). Over the years, the band has gone through many line-up changes, but never succumbed to the challenges and pressures that came with those numerous changes. Long-time members of the Yellowjackets – Russell Ferrante, William Kennedy and Bob Mintzer – managed to maintain an incredibly high quality of music. The newest addition to the band is Australian bassist Dane Alderson. With his exceptional rhythmic sensibility and natural affinity for the groove, Dane brings new energy to the band and adds a youthful approach to the music.
