ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT Returns to Musicology Sessions

Musicology Sessions is thrilled to announce the return of legendary hip-hop group Arrested Development on October 30 at BitefArtCafe Club.

Pioneers of hip-hop since 1991, Arrested Development are global champions of awareness, empowerment, and conscious music. Their eclectic and vibrant sound and visual identity created a unique fusion of rhythm and style that still stands out from mainstream hip-hop. Their mix of African rhythms, powerful messages, and timeless hits marked an entire era and shaped hip-hop as we know it today.

With numerous albums and world tours, they brought a major turning point to hip-hop culture. Their debut album, “3 Years, 5 Months and 2 Days in the Life of…” earned them:

• 2 Grammy Awards (Best New Artist & Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for “Tennessee”),

• 2 MTV Awards,

• a Soul Train Music Award,

• and an NAACP Image Award.

Rolling Stone named them Band of the Year in 1992, and VH1 listed them among the Greatest Hip-Hop Artists of All Time. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame even included their track “Tennessee” in the list of 500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll.

They’ve shared the stage with global icons like Nelson Mandela, Louis Farrakhan, Hillary Rodham Clinton, and Barack Obama — cementing their status as true legends.

The group continues to create powerful music focused on self-exploration and revolution. Their 2024 double album, “Bullets in the Chamber”, is no exception — featuring legends such as Chuck D, Skyzoo, Canibus, Diana King, Ras Kass, O’hene Savànt, Twan Mack, MRK SX, Do it All Dupree, Grandmaster Caz, Sol Messiah, and Sa-Roc, along with special appearances from Montsho Eshe and Rasa Don.

Their latest project, “Adult Contemporary Hip-Hop”, was executive produced by Speech (for Vagabond Productions) and Configa (for Configaration Records), and released on July 4. Singles like “All I See Is Melanin” and “Pack It Out” deliver unparalleled lyricism, soulful storytelling, and socially conscious messages — in a way only Arrested Development can.
