Psihomodo Pop in BitefArtCafe

PSIHOMODO POP TO PERFORM AT BITEFARTCAFE FOR THE FIRST TIME

Due to overwhelming demand, Psihomodo Pop, one of the most influential rock bands in the region, will perform at Belgrade’s BitefArtCafe on October 30 and 31, 2026.

Following sold-out concerts across the region, Belgrade audiences will have the opportunity to experience the band in an intimate club setting, perhaps the perfect environment for their music and unmistakable energy.

For more than four decades, Psihomodo Pop has remained one of the most distinctive names on the regional rock scene. From their iconic album Godina Zmaja to generation-defining hits such as “Ja volim samo sebe,” “Frida,” “Ramona,” “Natrag u garažu,” “Osjećam se haj,” “Donna,” “Mila,” and many others, the band has built a legacy that goes far beyond nostalgia, thanks to live performances that still carry the same intensity as they did at the very beginning.

Their career has included performances across Europe, a tour featuring more than 60 sold-out concerts in the former Soviet Union, shows alongside the legendary Ramones, the first music video by a band from the region to air on MTV, and numerous awards, including several Porin Awards for Best Rock Album, Best Music Video, and Album of the Year.

Today, Godina Zmaja is regarded as one of the most important albums in Yugoslav rock history, while the band continues to remain relevant through new releases and concerts that bring together audiences of all generations.

Yet what has always defined Psihomodo Pop is not just their songs, but their live performances.

For decades, frontman Davor Gobac and the band have been known for delivering some of the most energetic shows in the region loud, direct, and completely unpredictable.

Perhaps Gobac himself summed up the essence of Psihomodo Pop best when he said:

“If a band doesn’t deliver that rush of energy, if there’s no excitement, then it’s not rock’n’roll.”

It’s a philosophy audiences can feel at every one of their concerts.

The proximity to the stage, direct interaction with the audience, and the atmosphere that has become BitefArtCafe’s trademark will provide the ideal setting for two nights of singing along from the first song to the last.

Audiences can expect a journey through more than forty years of rock’n’roll, featuring the band’s greatest hits alongside songs from their more recent albums proving that Psihomodo Pop is not a band living off past glory, but one that continues to bring fresh energy to every stage.

DAVOR GOBAC AHEAD OF THE CONCERTS

  1. Rock’n’roll used to be an act of rebellion. What’s the bigger rebellion today playing rock music or staying true to yourself?

Rock’n’roll is still one of the genres that’s alive today, doing better in some places and worse in others. I’m afraid that here in the Balkans, it’s not doing quite as well as it used to. But I definitely think that staying true to yourself is the bigger act of rebellion today.

  1. After more than 40 years on stage, what still drives you to perform with the same excitement as if it were your very first concert?

I’ve been playing and singing with my band for forty years, travelling all over the place. I genuinely don’t know how to do anything else or at least, there’s nothing else I know how to do as well as this. That’s certainly one of the things that keeps me going. The other is that I absolutely adore being on stage, and I love our lovely little audience.

  1. If you could ban one thing from concerts forever, what would it be?

I’d ban idiots who throw things at performers from entering the venue.

  1. Who needs more courage today, a young band just starting out, or a band that’s been around for four decades and still has something to say?

I think both young bands and us old bands need a certain amount of courage to play rock’n’roll these days, when everyone around seems to be playing all that trashy music.

  1. If you were writing “Ja volim samo sebe” (I Only Love Myself) today, would the song have the same meaning, or are we living in a time when it’s become even more relevant?

I don’t think “Ja volim samo sebe” has ever been more relevant. Just look around the worldeveryone loves themselves and nobody else. And that’s how you end up with something like World War III.

I have a feeling that when I wrote “Ja volim samo sebe” back in 1986 or 1987, it was actually meant to be a provocative song. Today, there’s nothing provocative about it at all. It’s simply reality.

  1. What’s the last thing that made you change your mind? It doesn’t have to be about music.

I haven’t changed my mind about anything in a long time.

  1. Was there a decision in your career that seemed completely crazy at the time but turned out to be one of your best?

There have been quite a few decisions in our career that seemed completely crazy at the time but turned out well.

Take the album Srebrne svinje, for example. When we started working on it, everyone who heard it would say, “That’s never going to be commercially successful.”

Today, it’s one of our cult albums.

  1. If you had to form a band with five musicians from the region, regardless of ego, age, or genre, who would you choose?

I have absolutely no idea who I’d invite to join a new band. I’d invite the same guys who already play with me, because I can’t be bothered learning new things or teaching new people how to play new songs.

  1. When Psihomodo Pop eventually plays its very last concert, what would you like people to say as they’re leaving the venue?

“What? It’s over already? That’s it?”
