KUTIMAN(Facebook Cover) (1)

Israeli artist Kutiman, known for his work as a composer, producer, filmmaker, and multi-instrumentalist, will perform for the first time in front of the Belgrade audience on May 31st and June 1st as part of the Musicology Sessions concert series. His music is inspired by various genres including the J Dilla tribute band Abstract Orchestra, “Tosca” and “DJ Vadim”, contemporary indie artists such as Michael Kiwanuka and Johnny Marr, psychedelic sounds, Thai funk, afrobeat/jazz fusion, guitar lines, and meditative sounds inspired by John Coltrane. Kutiman uses these different influences to create an infectious groove that continues to evolve and spread. Kutiman, whose real name is Ophir Kutiel, moved to Tel Aviv at the age of 17 to study jazz at the prestigious Rimon Music College, but he gained his true musical education working in a record store where he listened to various genres of music, including Parliament, Amon Tobin, trip-hop, and jungle. These influences form the basis for his latest album “Open,” which he will present at concerts at the BitefArtCafe club. With his music, he presents a fresh reinterpretation of his eclectic sound solutions.
